It is an approach to a state of the question, which systematizes some of the possibilities and areas in which these new approaches to study are taking place, beyond the disciplinary narratives of archival science, which since the end of the 20th century has been rethinking its postulates and objectives, in terms of the recognition of new producers of documents and political subjects and the forms of recording information and subjectivity of memory.
Sebastián Alejandro Marín Agudelo Copyright (c) 2024 Sebastián Alejandro Marín Agudelo http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-01-01 2025-01-01 10.15517/eci.v15i1.60893 Scientific production of Cuban researchers in specialized Tourism Journals https://revistas.ucr.ac.cr/index.php/eciencias/article/view/58283
The study of tourism and hospitality from the perspective of scientific research shows a growing interest among researchers at the international level, resulting in an increase in the quantity of scientific publications in this field. The research aims to analyze the scientific production behavior of Cuban authors in specialized tourism journals during the period 2016-2020. A descriptive bibliometric study was conducted to measure scientific production using indicators for the evaluation of scientific activity, employing computer tools to visualize the results. A total of 34 contributions were retrieved from specialized tourism journals in the WoS, Scopus and Scielo databases. The study also identified the quantity of manuscripts per journal and per institution, the impact of research by authors, and the main thematic lines addressed. The conclusions drawn from the analyzed sample confirm the leading role of Cuban universities. The predominance of the Spanish language in publications and the insufficient number of Cuban scientific journals in the research field limit the dissemination of research by national researchers.
Félix Díaz-Pompa Ladys Mirtha Rodríguez-Alemán Yasiel López-Yanes Olga Lidia Ortiz-Pérez Lianet Suárez-Cuba Copyright (c) 2025 Félix Díaz-Pompa, Ladys Mirtha Rodríguez-Alemán, Yasiel López-Yanes, Olga Lidia Ortiz-Pérez, Lianet Suárez-Cuba http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-01-29 2025-01-29 10.15517/eci.v15i1.58283 Bibliometric analysis of the publications of Geophysical Institute of Peru: production, collaboration, impact and scientific leadership https://revistas.ucr.ac.cr/index.php/eciencias/article/view/61580
Bibliometrics, a key discipline within information sciences, allows to diagnose and evaluate the results of scientific research. In this context, the present study analyzes the scientific production of the Instituto Geofísico del Perú (IGP) indexed in Scopus during the period 1961-2021. Output, collaboration, impact and leadership indicators were used, in addition to evaluating the fit of Lotka's Law to the data through the generalized inverse power model. The analysis reveals that the IGP has published 624 documents, evidencing an increasing pattern in its production volume. The percentage of international collaboration predominates (82.7%), as well as publications in quartile 1 journals (71.9%) and the percentage of documents without institutional leadership (67%). Using the generalized inverse power model, it is verified that Lotka's law does not fit the data of the IGP's scientific literature. By integrating various bibliometric indicators, this study constitutes a strategic tool for research management, offering valuable input for decision-making. Finally, recommendations for researchers, managers and decision-makers are presented, as well as proposals for future lines of research aimed at institutional strengthening.
Joselyn Lopez-Ramirez Cesar H. Semi-systematic review https://revistas.ucr.ac.cr/index.php/eciencias/article/view/59584
In this work, the narrative or traditional review article is analyzed as an important and valuable source of information for scientific research, both in natural sciences and social sciences. In this sense, questions were raised regarding its essential characteristics, its difference with another review modality, specifically, the systematic review, and with another very different genre such as the essay. In addition, questions are asked about the level of evidence and scientific validity of the narrative review. The method used to answer the questions posed was the semi-systematic review with a qualitative approach. The most significant result reveals the validity and importance of the narrative review as a complement to other types of review, given its usefulness in the compilation of dispersed information, its integrated and summarized presentation, and its contribution to the detection of knowledge gaps for research. It is concluded that the degree of evidence and scientific validity of the narrative review article is determined by the branch of science in which it is developed, as well as by the research paradigm and approach assumed.
Fidias Arias-Odón Copyright (c) 2025 Fidias Arias-Odón http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-01-29 2025-01-29 10.15517/eci.v15i1.59584
