The official language of the journal is English and the manuscripts presented in Spanish are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Peer review process

LANKESTERIANA is a peer-reviewed journal. Each manuscript is critically evaluated by two or more external reviewers, under the double-blind model. Each manuscript is assigned to an Editor in charge, who performs editorial tasks to improve the concordance of the manuscript according to the general style of the journal, and follows the editorial process from the presentation to the final decision making, to guarantee the quality of each publication. The Editor in charge is the figure that, based on the quality of the work carried out by the reviewers and their comments, makes the final decision on whether the manuscript is accepted or not for its publication. Manuscripts submitted by members of the Editorial Board are evaluated by at least three external reviewers, and it is they who make the final decision in these cases. The reviewers are selected from different parts of the world according to their proven experience in the fields required for the severe evaluation of the manuscripts, both for their scientific content and for their compliance with the high standards required. Manuscripts are usually evaluated within six weeks after the date of formal acceptance by the journal. Manuscripts in the Spanish language on very specific topics may require longer evaluation times.
