Abstract
The composition of the essential oils of the leaves and spikes of Piper bisasperatum Trel. (Piperaceae) obtained by bydrodistiUation were invéstigated by GC-MS. The main constituents of the leaves oH were the sesquiterpenes germacrene D (30.7%), 8-caryopbyllene (9.5%) and y-elemene (5.9%), together witb too monoterpene 8-pinene (5.5%). The main constituents of tbe spikes (tlowers and fruits) were too monoterpenes 8-pinene (17.5%), orpinene (14.0%) and the sesquiterpenes ¡ermacrene D (19.5%), B-caryopbyllene (7.9%) and ylangene (7.6%). The C6-C¡ compounds benzyl benzoate (0.3%) and benzaldebyde (<0.1 %) were identified for tbe first time in the genus Piper,Comments
