Resumen

Existe un amplio consenso sobre la relevancia que tiene la teoría para la conceptualización y la práctica contemporánea de la arquitectura. Sin embargo, los fundamentos teóricos de la arquitectura carecen, en la actualidad, de un lugar bien definido dentro del currículo académico de la profesión, en particular a nivel licenciatura. En la mayoría de los casos, la teoría arquitectónica se enseña a través de cursos aislados u optativos, lo cual imposibilita su integración dentro de los talleres y la práctica del diseño arquitectónico. Para contrarrestar esta situación, se considera necesario construir metodologías de enseñanza que expandan el learning by doing (John Dewey) y lo conviertan en un theorizing (architecture) by doing (artistic spatial practices). Este artículo analiza la implementación de un modelo de pedagogía experimental basado en el teorizar haciendo, el cual fue implementado en un curso de licenciatura del Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM). Entre los hallazgos se ofrece un marco teórico para la enseñanza de la arquitectura moderna de América Latina y una reflexión sobre el uso de la antropofagia brasileña como teoría-en-acción sobre el futuro de la enseñanza de la arquitectura.
