Écfrasis de pinturas en el teatro latino y sánscrito: ¿Contacto cultural?

El artículo analiza la écfrasis de pinturas como un subtipo de écfrasis. Tras establecer la existencia del procedimiento tanto en Roma como en India, y tras repasar el marco histórico-geográfico de intercambios entre estas dos civilizaciones antiguas, se estudian, del lado latino, ocho menciones de pintura en Plauto (s. III-II a.e.c.) y, del lado sánscrito, una en Bhāsa (s. III e.c.), una en Śūdraka (s. IV e.c.), tres en Kālidāsa (s. V e.c.), dos en Harṣa (s. VII e.c.), dos en Bhavabhūti (s. VIII e.c.) y una en Rājaśekhara (s. IX e.c.). El propósito de la comparación es apoyar la hipótesis, avanzada por Rodríguez Adrados (2012), de que el contacto cultural podría haber resultado en una posible influencia del teatro latino en el teatro sánscrito. En concreto, se propone un préstamo desde la écfrasis de pintura en El eunuco 583-591 de Terencio (s. II a.e.c.) hacia la écfrasis de pintura en El discurso del embajador 6.15 - 12.6 de Bhāsa (s. III e.c.). Como conclusión, se arguye sobre la plausibilidad de esta supuesta influencia.
