Discursos periodísticos y reformas penales en Costa Rica

Desde la promulgación del Código Penal, en 1970, y hasta el 2019 se habían dictado 80 leyes que afectaron, en mayor o menor medida, ese cuerpo normativo; esto sin tomar en cuenta la gran cantidad de legislación especial que incide en el amplio espectro del poder punitivo del Estado. Muchos de esos cambios legislativos han estado precedidos por un tratamiento periodístico caracterizado por el sobredimensionamiento y la descontextualización del fenómeno de la criminalidad. En este estudio exploratorio analizamos elementos del tratamiento periodístico de algunas de las reformas penales importantes en Costa Rica, a partir de un corpus de noticias del Diario La Nación y Diario Extra.
