Abstract
Music, understood as an historical and social product, has played a fundamental role
from different places and with diverse purposes. It is important to remember that
music is, basically, a language, a text. Although music is an individual unique product, it becomes collective as soon as it can be reproduced and resignified by others.
This article tries to demonstrate the importance of ska and reggae music as a
significant practice between young people in Southern Districts of the San José
Metropolitan Area.
