The fossil record of Glyptotherium floridanum (Xenarthra, Cingulata, Glyptodontidae) on the Quaternary of Costa Rica, Central America

Abstract

The fossiliferous locality is Nacaome River fluvial deposits located in the bed of river from which it takes its name, 400 m west Copal's crossing on the road Quebrada Honda to Nicoya, Province Guanacaste, at coordinates 236,700 N - 391 650 E, Matambú sheet 3146 III, IGNCR (Laurito et al., 1993). This town was given to initially know Vetsalio Mr. Rivas in the year 1978 with the discovery of a copy hyodon Cuvieronius youth restored by the Dr. Rudolf Fischer and determined by Laurito (1988, 1990).
