Evaluación del proteoma de E. faecalis en infecciones endodónticas mediante espectrometria de masas: Estudio preliminar

Enterococcus faecalis, es una bacteria Gram positiva, detectada con mayor frecuencia y alta prevalencia en dientes con tratamiento de conductos previo, se asocia al fracaso y enfermedad periapical persistente. Las proteínas expresadas por los microorganismos son fundamentales para comprender mejor su comportamiento, estas proteínas por lo general contribuyen a la síntesis y mantenimiento de la pared celular, y son importantes para las interacciones entre la célula bacteriana y el huésped. En el presente artículo, se utilizó una cepa de E. faecalis aislada de un caso de fracaso endodóntico para el análisis proteómico mediante espectrometría de masas y una cepa ATCC de este microorganismo. Se identificaron un total de 22 proteínas; la mayoría de las proteínas encontradas estuvieron relacionadas con procesos metabólicos y de mantenimiento celular, incluyendo el metabolismo energético y la síntesis proteica. El presente análisis proteómico brinda una visión experimental del perfil proteico de la bacteria patógena E. faecalis. Estas proteínas se perfilan como blancos de interés para profundizar en la investigación de la interacción entre E. faecalis y el microambiente del conducto radicular.
