Journalists on the Bench. Mapping judicial decisions against honor in Costa Rica

This paper analyzes 56 appeal decisions in criminal cases in which the commission of crimes against honor, defamation, slander, and/or insults was invoked and in which the accused party was a journalist or representative of a social media outlet. In conclusion, the analysis identifies patterns and trends in the use of Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation (SLAPPs) in Costa Rica
