This article presents a detailed account and analysis on the path that the figure of History of Law has presented in Costa Rica from the nineteenth century to the present day, explaining the various characters, dates, bibliographies, institutions and other circumstances that have been associated to this intellectual matter in general and at the university particularly. In this sense, special emphasis is placed on the explanation of different concepts related to this specific branch of history, as well as on its literary development, all this together with the description of the contexts where the most important works that the most outstanding doctrinal representatives have published on this subject.
