The situation of roads and highways of the 5 cantons in the South of Puntarenas province, also called SOUTH - SOUTH region, representing one fourth of national territory, is a dramatic reflection of a reality Costa Ricans would like to change, not only there, but throughout the entire country.
Administration of a road system based on a series of basic premises, always present as guarantee and requirement to achieve excellence and efficiency in management of a road and highway network.
Study area formed by five cantons of Puntarenas province located in southern Costa Rica, namely: Buenos Aires, Osa, Golfito, Coto Brus, Corredores. Two of these cantons with peculiarity of forming part of national border, such is the case of Coto Brus and Corredores bordering Panama.
With an estimated investment of ten billion colones over a period of four years, social and economic recovery of cantons such as Golfito, Corredores, Buenos Aires, Osa, and Coto Brus would be achieved, according to the new Development Plan for the southern zone of the country, prepared with participation of university professionals, state ministers, development associations, non-governmental organizations, and the Regional Development Board (JUDESUR).
Current responsibilities acquired by local governments of the country have brought the creation of a new sector within the General Comptroller’s Office (CGR), called Municipal Services, which carries out the oversight of budget management.

Their low cost and possibility of execution using a wide range of local materials make these coatings very important, especially for light or medium traffic roads in rural areas.
