In 1953, Stith Thompson published his famous study on the myth of the Husband Star among native North Americans, following the historical geographical method. This article, in which the same method is used, presents an analysis of the Woman Star myth found in 59 versions from South American natives. Besides the analysis itself, this article discusses comparisons between both myths, both in relation to Thornpson's study and to the few versions found in South America.
