Abstract
An aftershock study of the Limón earthquake of April 22, 1991 (Ms= 7.6) was done combining data from a temporal network of seismic stations localed inside the afertershock area, and data obtained from the Red Sismológica Nacional (RSN, ICE-UCR). A definition of the aftershock area of 85 x 45 km2 were the location process of a good sample of aftershocks (Mc from 2.4 to 4.0). Also, we estimated that the rupture surface of the mainshock has a mean inclination of 23° to the SW. We that the fault shallows from the Costa Rica-Panama border zone to the northwest side of the rupture area. Some of the hypocenters located suggests that some secondary thrust and siecstral strike slip faults were reactivaded by the mainshock.Comments
