Peer Review Process
Articles submitted to the journal will undergo two preliminary review: an internal review and an external review.
The internal review is carried out by the Chief Editor to confirm if the article adheres to the editorial line of the journal, which means that the content and the writing comply with the guidelines. Additionally, the article must be original, meaning it cannot be under an editing process by another journal.
The articles are selected and classified if comply with the established guidelines, which can be consulted in the following link: Publication Guidelines. These are assigned to an Associate Editor.
Once approved, articles will undergo an arbitration and assessment process called "double-blind peer review." This process is carried out by national and international scientific peers, who are not acquainted with the authorship of the article. The scientific peers determine if the authors should incorporate modifications for a new version of the article. The articles are sent for philological review and later to the process of diagramming.
Authors will be notified about the submission date and the decision regarding the approval or rejection of the article. Due to the confidential nature of this process, the Associate Editor of REVISTARQUIS oversees the managing the relations between authors, evaluators, and proofreaders.
The Editorial Board reserves all the rights to publish or not the received articles, to suggest changes in form, and to correct style. Moreover, they can also postpone for future issues.
Finally, if an article is accepted for publication, all rights of reproduction and outreach pertain to the University of Costa Rica (UCR).
The process is summarized in the following graph:
