Abstract
Documentation Centers are disseminating spaces for organized and specialized
information for users. However, the proper planning and, even more, the construction process of these spaces do not have specific regulation in Mexico. The aim of this article is to analyze the suitable characteristics and the construction process of the Documentation Center President Adolfo López Mateos of the UAEMéx. The article reviews the specialized literature on Documentation Centers and considers the restoration and recycling proposals of historical buildings. It also analyses the construction and equipment process. It is concluded that this Documentation Center should constitute and disseminate a specialized documentary archive not only produced by the institution itself. But, promote teaching, research and other documentary services. In addition, the
use of restoration and recycling techniques allowed the efficient rescue of the space. Similarly, the idea of applying these methods from architecture before the construction of new spaces is defended.
