Abstract

During recent fieldwork conducted in the Cordilleras Central and Oriental of the Colombian Andes, plants of a species assignable morphologically to the genus Funkiella were discovered. A comparison with the types or digital images of types, published illustrations, and relevant taxonomic literature of all the species of this genus, showed that they correspond to F. muscicola, previously known only from the type locality in the Venezuelan Andes. The species is described and illustrated based on the Colombian collections, its known distribution is shown on a map, and the features that distinguish it from its morphologically closest congener, F. intagana, are discussed.
