  1. Recommendations for obtaining reliable results of resistance of concrete cylinders

This paper is about a series of recommendations to assure the reliability of concrete strength results sampled in the field. Each of the steps to achieve this goal is described. Those are: sampling, molding, curing, protecting and testing. The provided recommendations are based on a deep study of the practices and standards as well as the experience acquired in the process of testing concrete cylinders at LanammeUCR. This paper is intended mainly for testing laboratories which execute sampling and testing of concrete but also for engineers and professionals that work in the construction of buildings.

  2. Triaxial Tests for Soils

This document presents a brief explanation of the shear strength theory, an overview of the main types of triaxial tests that are performed more frequently in a geotechnical laboratory and a detailed listing of the different components that make up the triaxial test equipment acquired by the LanammeUCR Geotechnical Laboratory. Finally it presents the assembly and some of the results from the execution of a UU triaxial test

  3. Guide for the Realization of Tests and Classification of Asphalt, Asphalt Emulsions and Asphalt Cutback According to the Central American Technical Regulation (RTCA 75.01.22: 047)

This document presents a summary and description of the RTCA 75.01.22:047 as a guide to characterize and classify asphalt binders un-modified, conventional asphalt, asphalt emulsions and cutback asphalt, required to provide the minimum specifications to be used in rehabilitation , reconstruction and construction of roads. This article is addressed mainly to companies and testing laboratories related to the road sector that require determining the quality of materials used in the processes of maintenance, rehabilitation or reconstruction, in addition is a description or interpretation of the results of each test.

  4. Guide to Laboratory Tests and Field Sampling for Quality Verification of Asphalt Pavement Materia

According to the needs of professionals, researchers, builders, inspectors and all those involved in the road sector, there is then a guide to basic tests required in quality control in three general stages during construction of asphalt pavements. This article will refer to the specifications and relevant national and international, norms and and standard procedures used in LanammeUCR for sampling and assessment the behavior of different materials that make an asphalt pavement.
