Resumen

Los impactos que la especie humana genera sobre los ecosistemas del planeta son tan notorios y alarmantes que se ha llegado a plantear la posibilidad de que nos encontremos en un evento de extinción masiva de especies y ante un potencial colapso ecológico. No obstante, no existe una percepción generalizada de que tales procesos estén ocurriendo ni de que la humanidad podría llegar a extinguirse. 

En este trabajo se presenta un análisis de la situación actual de la biodiversidad y de los factores que han provocado la desaparición de una gran cantidad de especies, así como de la relación entre las acciones humanas y sus impactos en los ecosistemas.
