The Instituto de Investigaciones en Salud of the University of Costa Rica has contributed to the promotion of human health through scientific research, teaching and social action since 1974, when the creation of an institute for research on human health was proposed by recommendation of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICIT).

Population and Health in Mesoamerica informs its authors and readers that all publications must be submitted with the Letter of Acceptance of Copyright Conditions where the authors are asked for authorization to submit the article to the Journal for consideration so that it may carry out any of the following activities:
