Enfoque de cadena de valor en el sector del turismo sostenible: Perspectivas desde la revisión sistemática de la literatura científica

Resumen

Introducción: En la última década, el enfoque de cadena de valor ha adquirido un papel cada vez más relevante en los estudios sobre turismo sostenible, debido a su capacidad para ofrecer una visión articulada de cómo se generan, distribuyen, consumen e inclusive se reciclan los productos en sus eslabones.

Objetivo: Este artículo presenta una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica publicada entre 2003 y 2024 para analizar la evolución conceptual, las aplicaciones empíricas y los vacíos de conocimiento del enfoque de cadena de valor en el turismo sostenible, con el fin de proponer perspectivas para la formulación de políticas públicas y estrategias de gestión.

Método: La investigación se fundamenta en el protocolo de Tranfield et al. (2003), que permite estructurar la evidencia de manera rigurosa y replicable. Se consideraron exclusivamente 25 estudios indexados y sometidos a revisión por pares, priorizando aquellos publicados en revistas de alto impacto (Q1 y Q2) según el Scimago Journal Rank (SJR).

Resultados: Los hallazgos revelan una evolución del concepto de cadena de valor más allá de su sentido original vinculado a la eficiencia económica, hacia modelos que integran elementos como la gobernanza colaborativa, digitalización, inclusión social y la sostenibilidad ambiental. Se identifica que el valor compartido, la participación igualitaria de los actores y un enfoque en la equidad territorial son claves.

    Docente e investigador en la carrera de Turismo Ecológico para el Departamento de Ciencias Naturales de la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR), Sede de Occidente-Recinto de Grecia. Excoordinador de la carrera de Turismo Ecológico. Mis líneas de investigación se enfocan en turismo sostenible, ecoturismo, cadenas de valor, desarrollo local y planificación turística. Cuento con un Bachillerato en Turismo, Licenciatura en Turismo con énfasis en Administración de Empresas Turísticas y Hoteleras, una Maestría en Dirección y Planificación del Turismo por la Universidad de Alicante, España (UA), donde actualmente realizo mis estudios de Doctorado.
