This article critically examines the historiography of Freemasonry in eighteenth-century Haiti. It analyzes available primary sources —principally the documentary collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, and the Masonic encyclopedias of Mackey and Gould— evaluating their scope and omissions. The article argues that historians have privileged narratives centered on slavery and the Haitian Revolution, neglecting fundamental aspects such as lodge life, chronology, and the role of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. The work also corrects longstanding historiographical errors regarding Nicolás Sansón Panel and General Louis Dieudonné.
