Abstract

The Battered Child Syndrome refers to all forms of aggression exerted against a minor that affects their health in the context of a power relationship, normally perpetrated by those in charge of their care. This research addresses the evolution of the normative regulation of physical punishment in Costa Rica, the factors that must be considered in the medicolegal examination to detect this syndrome, as well as the judicial approach that is carried out in this type of case.
