Abstract
The carbohydrate con- tents during growth and development of 4 sugarcane (Saccharum sp) varieties were analyzed, at the Ciego de Avila Province Sugarcane Research Station, Cuba. The design used was a random block with 4 treatments and 4 replicates; the sugarcane varieties: C1051-73, CP52-43, C323-68 and My5514 were the treatments. Biomass and carbohydrate contents were evaluated. The varieties showed an increase of the biomass during the growth period. Besides, a discreet increase in sucrose content was observed, although differences among varieties were non-significant.
