Objective. To verify the predictive power of personality traits in cyberstalking perpetration behaviors, controlling for gender. Method. 267 people who had experienced or were experiencing an intimate relationship participated. The Intimate Partner Cyberstalking Scale, the Big Five Personality Inventory, and sociodemographic questions were applied. Results. The analyses demonstrated that the personality trait neuroticism explained the perpetration of cyberstalking (β = 0.20, t = 3.30, p > 0.01), while the gender variable did not show a significant influence. It is concluded that there is a tendency for cyberstalking perpetrators to present a high neuroticism score; however, the importance of developing more research on the subject is highlighted, which may help to develop intervention strategies directed at perpetrators.
