Abstract

The author makes a survey of the recent research in metaphors and non-literal meaning from a neuropsychological perspective. Procedure. A theoretical evaluation is made, different tendencies are identified and possible lines of research for the future are considered. Conclusion. Typically, related phenomena are confused with metaphors. There is a total divorce between neuropsychological and cognitive approaches.
