Reconocer la necesidad de buscar ayuda: señales que desencadenan la búsqueda de ayuda académica en estudiantes universitarios

Objetivo. Este estudio explora los signos que los estudiantes consideran indicadores claros para buscar ayuda en la universidad y las variables asociadas con aquellos estudiantes que se dan cuenta de que necesitan ayuda solo después de suspender una asignatura. Método. La muestra fue de 753 estudiantes de diferentes campos y universidades que respondieron a un cuestionario sobre variables motivacionales relacionadas con la búsqueda de ayuda académica. Resultados. Los resultados indican que las malas calificaciones son la señal más importante para buscar ayuda. Por otro lado, se descubrió que el 10 % de la muestra que necesitaba reprobar la asignatura para darse cuenta de que necesitaba ayuda se caracterizaba por una mayor vergüenza, una menor integración social y académica y una menor fortaleza vocacional. También tenían una menor apreciación del apoyo académico.
