Estructura y distribución de rasgos hereditarios en la población estudiantil de la universidad de Córdoba, Colombia

Abstract

Physical traits in humans have been used to study and demonstrate basic genetics, so with the objective of evaluating the structure and distribution of three hereditary traits in a human population, 220 students of the University of Córdoba were randomly selected during the months of October and November of the year 2015. The presence or absence of three hereditary features was determined: folded little finger, facial dimples and presence of hair in the proximal phalanges of the fingers. The results showed that the frequency of the folded little finger was 1.81 % in men, 4.54 % in women and 3.18 % in general. On the other hand, the men showed a greater frequency of cheek dimples, 29.09 %, meanwhile a lower value was obtained for women, 24.9 %. Hairs on the phalanges of the fingers, showed a frequency of 69.09 % in men and 63.63% in women. The inheritance of the traits studied could obey a dominant-recessive pattern, following a simple Mendelian distribution.
