Abstract
The teaching of mathematics is a matter of global importance, its difficulties,the development of various topics, the inclusion or exclusion
of topics, etc. Fit here many questions related to this issue throughout Latin America, including: What has been done to improve education in the area of mathematics? What changes are necessary? What the main constraints are? It happens the same in all countries?
With multiple difficulties, but with great commitment to continue, grow and contribute to improving the teaching of mathematics is that the Inter American Conferences on Mathematics Education (IACME) arise. This article is a brief description of what happened in that event during the period 1961-1987.
