Abstract

El presente estudio ofrece una reconstrucción del sistema vocálico de la variedad prototipica que dio origen a los diferentes criollos de base inglesa que existen actualmente en el área Atlántica. Este sistema consta de seis vocales largas, seis vocales cortas y tres diptongos. El sistema vocálico reconstruido es bastante semejante al del inglés moderno temprano.
