Abstract
A right M3 of a mastodont collected at the beggining of this century near San Pedro Sula, northwestern Honduras, is here classified as Mammut americanum, and it is southernmost record of the American mastodont. Its presence in Honduras suggests a forested habitat and adds another large mammal of northern origin to the Quaternary fossil-mammal faunas of Honduras.
