Abstract
Volcanic ballistic ejection is accepted in volcanic hazard maps as a proximal area generally defined by field work. However, lack of human and technical resources, joined to ash depositions that may have covered the ballistics fragments may induce the researcher to apply free software, such as the case of EJECT!, to fill the missing gaps. Unfortunately, lack of knowledge of all the possible physical phenomena which any appreciably affect fragment real trajectories, plus the poweer image usually associated to computational results, may generate a false security when such results are applied to real situations.
