A orillas del río Virilla en San Juan de Tibás

Abstract

This article analyzes the importance Virilla River has had in the everyday life of Tibás people. In the past, the Virilla River’s bed played a key role as a social meeting point by creating friendly ties, sociability, and brotherly feelings among tiba- seños. Those elements fortified and consolidated an already existing local identity. Further-more, this study’s goal is to rescue Virilla River as an everyday life space within Tibás history. Moreover, I will take advantage of that discussion in order to think about our natural environment which is experiencing important problems that have put it in an imminent danger.
