Abstract
The article analizes several aspects of poetry writen in prison in order to demonstrate that writing means liberation. The promising role of love, the solidarity between prisoners and the obliteration of the fatherland show that the jailers’s project for the country cannot be accomplished and sooner or later they will be defeated. We chose “Cartas de prisionero” by the chilean poet Floridor Perez as example of dissidente poetry. Perez was held in detention in The Quiriquina Island at the begining of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship.Comments
