Abstract

This narrative tries to tell the story of Herradura, a farm in the Central Pacific belonging to the canton of Garabito, province of Puntarenas.

The farmhouse was founded at the beginning of the 20th century with a small group of brave neighbors who, living away from the comforts, decided to join forces to carry out projects for common benefit, so that what has always been Herradura, which together with Jacó are an important tourist point of the country.

The story is told by founders and others with a lot of time to live in the place, in the same narrates the distribution of the first families of the place, their homes and their entertainment centers, the religious services, the importance that was given to primary education, as well as struggles for the first infrastructure works, namely; the waterfront, the aqueduct, the school, the soccer field, among others.

The work highlights the relations that the town maintained with the neighboring villages, as well as the positive effects that were given to each other as each one developed. It can not be missing to mention people who, although they did not live in Herradura for a long time, contributed significantly to the town, as well as some anecdotes that remained in the
collective memory.
