Dr. Marielos Giralt Bermúdez
Costa Rican. She has a degree in Philosophy and a Doctorate in this field from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. She worked for more than three decades at the University of Costa Rica, she was part of its University Council representing the Area of Arts and Letters during the period 1989-1993 and, in the last year of her management, she corresponded address this Body.
She began her work in 1965 as an assistant in the Philosophy Department, and her teaching work at this house of studies revolved around ethics courses and Philosophy seminars in different academic units, including Philosophy, General Studies and Collective Communication Sciences.
At the same time that she carried out this work, she participated in different social action projects and developed others in research, such as: The thought of Xavier Zubiri and The French idealist thought. Bergson and his stress theory.
Marielos Giralt also stood out in the union field, occupying the General Secretariat of the Employees Union of the University of Costa Rica for several years, which led her to actively participate in the Institution's budget struggles and in the search for better working conditions for the university community.
She was a member of the Human Rights Commission since its foundation in 1985. She took up her pension in 1993, but she continued to be linked to the University of Costa Rica, as a researcher at the Institute of Philosophical Research, where she was rehired ad honorem.
