Abstract

This study intends to implement a methodology to determine the asphaltene content in heavy crude oils that have been subjected to a deasphalting process, in order to reduce the measurement time and the solvent volume in comparison to the conventional method ASTM D 3279-07 (Standard Test Method for n-heptane insoluble). As a result, the measurement time was reduced to less than 3 hours instead of 2 days, and the solvent volume was reduced to one forth the usual requirement.
