History of the journal
The IUS Doctrina Journal arises under the direction of M.Sc. Anahí Fajardo, as an initiative of the Law School of the University of Costa Rica in 2007, seeking to offer a virtual alternative as a means of dissemination of legal knowledge, through a biannual publication, while providing a space to publish students who have defended their final graduation work with distinction. Through the Legal Informatics Unit, from the first semester of 2008, the first issue was published with five articles by prominent national jurists.
Since 2011, the Scientific Council of the Institute of Legal Research made the decision to create a Journal of this Academic Research Unit, initially intending it to be called Studia Juridica Cuadernos Digitales de Ciencias Jurídicas, but a series of difficulties prevented the Journal project from materializing in the publication of an issue.
On April 5, 2014, in session 5-2014, the Scientific Council of the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas decided that the Revista Jurídica Ius- Doctrina would become the official journal of said institute. Dr. Javier Llobet became the Academic Director of the Journal and M.Sc.. Anahí Fajardo, as the Editorial Director of the Journal.
Subsequently, during the period 2017-2018, the Academic Direction of the Journal was in charge of Dr. Hugo Muñoz Ureña, Director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas; while the Editor of the Journal was M.Sc. Agustín Gutiérrez Carro.
Currently, since February 2019, the Academic Direction is in charge of the new Director of the Institute, Dr. Gustavo Chan Mora; and its Editor is M.Sc. Agustín Gutiérrez Carro.
