Abstract

This paper reviews the most emblematic legal criteria and theses of Costa Rican constitutional-electoral jurisprudence on the definition and evolution of the democratic principle. This review includes jurisprudence from both the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Supreme Electoral Court.
