This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on human populations, we are encouraging scientists working on this topic in Costa Rica to consider publishing their manuscripts in the Revista de Biología Tropical. We are including a section of the Revista for this purpose and invite you to submit manuscripts during 2021.
Topics such as statistical or mathematical models of the disease's temporal or spatial dynamics, research in Biomedical Sciences such as Virology, Genetics, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry are welcome. Instructions to prepare and submit papers can be accessed at the following link: https://revistas.ucr.ac.cr
Revista de Biología Tropical is the Costa Rican scientific journal with the best international coverage. Since its first issue in 1953, it has been published continuously for the past 68 years, making it one of the older scientific journals of the University of Costa Rica and Latin America.
The first issues of the Revista emphasized the publication of biomedical research; later, other tropical biology fields were gaining more relevance on its pages. However, the Biomedicine topic is still present as evidenced by the publication of occasional papers. As it occurs with the most prestigious journals, we publish only those papers where positive peer reviews support a high quality of information and detailed data analysis. To encourage submission of top-quality biomedical papers, the Girolami Family Award was established years ago at the Revista to recognize outstanding scientific contributions to this area of research.
