Abstract
The specific composition of macrophytes of an urban river in Uruguay is compared with oxygen, pH, alkalinity, suspended matter, total phosphorus (TP) and total inorganic nitrogen (TIN). There is an important amount of organic matter in the system, mainly caused by industrial activities. The Mantel test and matnx eorrelation results show that composition of macrophytes is related to abiotic parameters. Alkalinity, TP and TIN appear to play a major role in the development of these macrophytes, because they showed significant differences among sampling stationsComments
