Abstract
The germination of Cucurbita ficifolia is rapid, probably because (1) the structure of the testa
allows a rapid imbibition, (2) cotyledons are large and rich in reserve material and (3) there is an incipient photosynthetic structure in the cotyledons. A self sufficient plant is produced in 10-12 days.
