Abstract
The Biology, as well as the economic importance, methods of capture and distribution of the species within the family Sciaenidae in the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica are presented. Descriptions of taxonomic characteristics of each species alongwith keys and figures which permit indentification in a simplified manner of the different species are also included.References
