Abstract
A total of 174 qualitative tests are reported for both tertiary and quaternary alkaloids on different plant parts of 139 species from Costa Rica; 30 positive results are reported. Six new genera and species are reported for the first time as containing alkaloids; 9 species are new reeords; 3 are new records for different plant parts of species previously reported and 4 are confirmations. Three species gave positive tests on both acid and alkaline layers.References
