Abstract

Spirulina subsalsa Oersted is reported from a supralittoral pool on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. The presence of cell walls in the trichome is confirmed. Because of its economic use in other parts of the world, it may have some potential as a food supplement, either for aquaculture or human consumption.
