Abstract
In this second contribution to the knowledge of Monogenetic trematodes from marine fishes of the north part of the Gulf of Mexico (Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico) three species are redescribed; two were already known from the locality but incompletely described and the third one is new for Mexico. The lappet and larval hooks of Bicotylophora trachinoti (MacCallum, 1921) Price, 1936 are described and a new diagnosis of the genus is given. It is placed in the family Microcotylidae Taschenberg, 1879, mainly on the structure of the clamps. Protomicrocotyle mirabilis (MacCallum, 1918) Johnston & Tiegs, 1922 is studied, enlarging the descriptions given by other authors, and locating it in Protomicrocotylidae Poche, 1925, Protomicrocotylinae Johnston & Tiegs, 1922. Finally Pseudomazocraes selene, Hargis, 1957 is placed in Gastrocotylidae Price, 1943, Gastrocotylinae Sproston, 1946, since, as was mentioned in a previous paper, the genus Pseudomazocraes Caballero & Bravo, 1955 has not yet been classified definitely.Comments
