Abstract
A brief historical review is made of the isolation of M. gypseum and K. ajelloi in soils from different parts of the world. The first isolation of these keratinophilic and keratinolytic molds from Costa Rican soils is reported. In 25 soil samples from gardens, patios and coffee plantations 11 strains of M. gypseum (44%) and one of K. ajelloi were obtained.Comments
