Abstract
Twenty cases of cestodiasis, ranging in age from 2 to 41 years, were treated with N-(2'-chloro-4'-nitro-phenyl)-5-chloro- salicilamide (Bayer Yomesan ). Doses were 1 gm for children up to 8 years, and 2 gm for patients above 8 years. Tolerance was good, as there were only minor reactions in four patients. The 10 cases of infestation by large cestodes (T. saginata and T. solium) were considered cured parasitologically (upon proved expulsion of the scolex - 1 case) or clinically (upon absence of proglottids or eggs in the feces 2 or 3 months after treatment). The other 10 cases, of hymenolepiasis, showed apparent good results, although a few cases proved resistant: one case is cited of a patient showing positive feces after four treatments.
