Abstract

The following addresses the issue of the application of the concepts of “collective memory” and “places of memory” to studies of local and regional history and historiographical approaches suggests combining built “from above” with approaches built “from below” . That is, it should consider regional and local studies the existence of various groups who build their own identities and worldviews through an interpretation of the past from the present and for which, construct representations that materialize in festivities, commemorations and other unofficial places of memory. This approach also involves integrating regional history (or local) with social history.
