Abstract

The general context that characterized high school education in its origins in Europe has comprised a widespread object of study in the history of education. Within this level of education and in the specific case of England, this work aims to reveal the most outstanding characteristics of the education for young women opposed to that for young men. To this end, a study has been carried out on the most renowned high school institutions for young women, including the institutions’ curriculum development and organization. In this manner, this works intends to show the nature and purpose of the English women’s progressive access to high school education.
